"Mid-Size
family cruisers have always been a popular breed in the
American market, and with so many to choose from, it's
often difficult to tell one from another. The Chaparral
Signature stands out, however, thanks to her better-than-average
finish and a very innovative helm arrangement. Like all
Chaparral cruisers, she's constructed on a good-running
deep-V hull with a solid fiberglass bottom, moderate beam
and an integral swim platform. The cockpit is well arranged
with seating for 6, a wet bar, and a removable cockpit
table that converts the U-shaped lounge into a big sunpad.
An electric strut supported hatch provides good access
to the engine compartment. Below decks, the interior of
the Signature 320 is arranged with Double Berths fore
and aft, a convertible dinette, a compact galley, and
stand-up head. Privacy curtains are standard and cabin
headroom is excellent. Additional features include a transom
shower, walk-thru windshield (there are no sidedecks),
cockpit lighting and five opening ports. The 320-hp Volvos
will cruise the Signature at 24 knots and deliver a top
speed of around 37 knots."
